REGARDING the community waste tip at Crewe closing and the land being bought by Bentley for expansion and locals being told to use the Middlewich tip instead.

Should Middlewich residents be optimistic or pessimistic at this development ?

On the plus side footfall at Morrisons and Lidl may increase as folk are funnelled down Nantwich Road and into Croxton Lane, making Middlewich a little hub of economic activity.

Perhaps Crewe and Nantwich folk will combine a trip to the tip with a shopping expedition.

However, they will probably view a nightmare negotiation of the one way system, with Winsford traffic joining at Chester Road and the dual carriageway, combined with not irregular closures of the M6 due to accidents, as a journey too far.

As a Middlewich local, I have no evidence for these suppositions but only personal experience to fall back on.

Would Cheshire East Council please supply the facts and figures for the knock on effects of their decision to close the Crewe tip.

Will the tip at Middlewich have to expand capacity?

Did they carry out a cost/benefit analysis or did they just think it was a good idea to save money?

We need to know.
