I WELCOME the news in the Guardian that the proposal to build 70 luxury cabins in Delamere Forest has been refused by the Secretary of State.
There is little doubt that if had gone ahead, it would have resulted in a significant loss of amenity to a valuable part of the remaining forest in this country.
People from all over the UK and beyond, myself included, enjoy the tranquility, marvellous scenery and exercise that it provides.
Sometimes commercial considerations have to give way to preserving the quality of life of all of us.
I do hope that what Forest is now left in peace for generations to enjoy.
I do not understand what made the developers think that they could build such a number of dwellings and not significantly affect this amazing natural resource.
