IN response to Chris Watkin, chairman UKIP Cheshire West in the Guardian, December 3.

He invited readers to “Forget politics, UKIP is for you”, headline, and to “Join the People’s Army”. What was omitted was the name of the UKIP candidate for the Weaver Vale constituency in the 2015 General Election.

The UKIP candidate for this constituency polled just over a 1,000 votes in the 2010 election, as did the BNP candidate. Graham Evans, the current Tory MP, won the seat with a majority of just under 1,000.

Some time ago, John Bickley’s name was put forward as the UKIP candidate, but I understand that he has since decided to fight a campaign elsewhere.

With less than five months to the election, the residents of Weaver Vale really ought to know the identity of the UKIP candidate.
