CHESHIRE East Council has ear marked land at Cledford Lane for a publicly owned Travellers’ site.

The council must be aware that Middlewich already has two Travellers’ sites.

If the new site goes ahead this means that it would be more than likely that when Travellers are moved to the new site from an illegal encampment, they would then not move from there.

Everyone knows now that if a large group of people move into a community then it creates divide, segregation and discrimination and prevents integration which would not happen if the site was positioned in an area with a lower population of Travellers.

With 78 illegal encampments reported across Cheshire East it really becomes common sense that this site should be situated in a different area to manage the issue properly.

It does make you wonder why the council are so keen on buying this land at Cledford Lane and putting the site there.
