THE people of Middlewich have been after the train station being re-opened from the day it was closed.

There is currently no greater chance for this to happen with the announcement of the HS2 hub to be built in Crewe and that other branch lines are to be re-opened across the country.

It is thought to be an unofficially done deal but the people of Middlewich will make no mistake in thinking this is the time to sit back.

The idea appeared to be that when HS2 comes in there would be a reduction in passenger trains on the main lines, but this was not to re-open branch lines but to run more lucrative freight trains.

This means that this chance should not be allowed to slip away and the people of Middlewich should really come together to apply real pressure until it is a done deal.
