Having helped out in a small way at a couple of roadshows organised by CWAC Library Services, I was honoured when my wife and I were invited to be among a select few hundred to a concert at Chester Cathedral on November 11.
It was a great evening full of music and poems, with a wonderful short play from a local school.
I must thank those who organised it and for those who supplied the entertainment, including the City of Chester Brass Band and the Minerva Theatre Group, who gave a shortened version of Over by Christmas that some of us were lucky enough to see previously at Northwich and other local railway stations.
I am extremely proud that our county has put on such wonderful events whereby we can remember the brave people who lost their lives fighting what they believed to be a “war to end wars”. This was not the case, but it does not diminish their fantastic sacrifice on behalf of their fellow Britons and the rest of the world.
Let us remember that they gave their tomorrows for our today, and pledge ourselves to be worthy of their sacrifice.
