WHAT has happened to the Bull Ring in Northwich?

Where there was once a pleasant area to sit and watch the world go by, with shade provided by a splendid Silver Birch tree, we now have an ugly, barren area to contemplate while seated on hideous benches.

What's wrong with a tree or two, some flower beds and some proper seating?

The top end of town, by the Penny Black is visually pleasing but, with the demise of the trees in and around the Bull Ring the whole area has taken on a rather depressing aspect.

Northwich is frequently compared to Nantwich for its quaint market town appeal.

However, I feel that Nantwich is more attractive, mainly due to the magnificent gardens that are there.

With the regeneration underway along the River Weaver I would hope to see a more complimentary landscape approach.

Finally, on the subject of the disappearance of many trees and flower beds during the construction of the gyratory system, may I add my voice to those who wish to have the pedestrian subway filled in.

This would provide an ideal opportunity to landscape this major junction to provide a pleasing view to residents and visitors as they wait at the traffic lights.
