IN the Guardian, August 20 Alan Lowe said it seemed some people are too busy to remember the First World War and all those that gave their lives. But not everyone will be thinking this I am sure.

I recently found out that my Great Uncle William Goodier from Princess Street, Winsford died on June 14, 1917 age 29.

He is remembered with Honour at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial and also on the Cenotaph at Winsford Shopping Centre.

I have also managed to have his name put on the Roll of Honour at the Tower of London along with 180 other names. Their names will be read out starting at 8.40pm on August 26, from the poppy filled Tower moat. Afterwards an Army bugler will play the Last Post.

Obviously I never knew this gentleman. but I feel extremely proud to know I had a great uncle who gave his life for this country and shall continue to see if I can find any more out about him.
