EVEN though I am agnostic, I felt it only right I go along to the service on August 4 to commemorate the beginning of the First World War.
You can imagine my sadness when apart from the two clergyman taking the service there were only two other men present, excluding me and five ladies.
‘We will remember them’ had a very hollow ring to me after such an insult to all those brave local lads who ‘gave their tomorrows for our todays’.
It seems that most people are enjoying their todays so much they have no time to remember the men who ensured they had them to enjoy.
