WITH the focus on poor elderly care in hospitals I was in a state of dread when my Mum, 92 years young, went to Leighton Hospital.

Our journey started with the professional and kind paramedics who ensured she was treated in the ambulance before setting off.

She did not spend hours on a stretcher. Once on ward four the nursing staff were excellent, showing kindness and detail to the little things that matter.

Mum moved to 21B for rehabilitation and was due to be discharged when she became poorly again with pneumonia, the nursing again was second to none.

After six weeks she is home and on the mend. I have had my faith restored in our NHS.

Thank you to all who showed my mum care and attention.
