I HAVE always been proud to live in Winsford, believe it or not, and have always kept a close eye on our town’s politics.

I believe we are missing a key member of our council, former Councillor Michael Burns.

Michael was the only councillor we have ever had to fix Bakers Lane (after many had tried).

He was also the only councillor who truly engaged the youth of Winsford for the good of the town, not for his own political benefit.

Yes, I agree that he was controversial at times, certainly never one to let the opposition make a mockery of so called democracy but that was the beauty of having this young man as a councillor.

Honesty, integrity and pure passion for the rights of the working class while remaining incredibly humble.

I met him once and once only but followed his hard work closely and if the Labour party have any sense, they should bring him back in 2015.

If for nothing else my granddaughter called him ‘The best looking man in politics’!

I would like to thank him for his hard work. I hope he has found steady employment at last and I certainly hope he is back in Winsford’s politics soon.

This town needs you Mr Burns and I’m not the only person who thinks it!
