AS a former controller of the West Coast and Midland main lines for Inter City, I believe Winsford Station is unsuitable for inter city trains due to the length of its platforms that were constructed to accommodate local services of no more than four carriages.
There would be coaches unable to platform on any express service and I can state that it would be dangerous for passengers once the train crew released the door locks platform side of the train in the coaches not platformed.
Hartford Station is suitable for inter city services, so mid Cheshire passengers could join the proposed new service there.
