Were school closures for security reasons?

I AM assuming it was purely on security grounds that schools closed for polling?

In earlier times it was sufficient merely to requisition the school hall for the day, during which the area was not available for school activities.

That said, I can’t accept the angst of working parents who are ‘appalled and upset’ by having their children home for the day.

Against whom do they direct their annoyance when the little ones are off sick?
