I REFER to Josh Carney’s letter in the Guardian, April 2, in which he complained about the ringing of church bells on a Sunday morning.

Josh, you have been at Wesley Place for a short time whereas the church has been there for more than 100 years.

Maybe if you answered the call of the bells and got out of bed and went to church, your peace would not be disturbed.

After all the nearest church, St Wilfrid’s is only 40 yards away!

with reference ti Grandad Carneys`reply to Josh Carney. I am currently living in Dublin and am looking to return to England soon. The one thing I am really looking forward to is hearing the church bells ringing again. That, among other things, is one of the things I miss most.
