Northwich Guardian: Hope the rumour is not true Hope the rumour is not true

I REALLY hope that there is no truth in this awful rumour that the council have plans to fill in this subway.

There are so many barriers to traffic moving smoothly through the town, there is no need to create any more by way of at least two pedestrian crossings (it would take more than one crossing, (one for Chesterway and also one for Watling St by the bus stops). The big advantage of the subway already being there is that there could be as many people crossing the road as you like, without risk of disrupting traffic.

If Clr Robinson is saying, as reported in the Northwich Guardian on February 12, it needs proper lighting, then I don’t believe he’s been through it in the past two or three years, as it was upgraded and is perfectly adequate. I’ve no idea what ‘proper security’ he wants in it!

When tne new oneway system came in i hated it, it caused delays and the system changed... And improve greatly.

Now, I would rather wait a few more minutes in the traffic and inconvenience myself and know my kids (or someones granny, mother or child) could safely cross the road without risk of beening run over on a main road or feeling intimidated by going out of sight underground. Call me old fashioned, but arn't all people - regardless of how the travel, important? ? When did drivers become elletist?
