IT was nice to read Clr Fifield join the dialogue concerning the bedroom tax, Guardian, February 5.

I am sure that many people affected by the bedroom tax would like to hear him explain the Coalition’s decision to impose this punitive attack on already disadvantaged people.

There is a continuous catalogue of disastrous effects on families that is being stonewalled by the current government.

It is one thing in principle to use housing stock effectively as Labour in office desired, to charging people for “under-occupancy” when alternative smaller properties are quite simply not there.

While we are discussing housing issues, in light of the disastrous flooding the past several weeks, perhaps Clr Fifield would also like to explain the granting of planning permission to build houses in Leftwich on the River Weaver’s flood plain?
