I WOULD like to publicly thank Mike Turner of Middlewich for his honesty, initiative and diligence in returning to me, a wallet lost at Manchester Airport on February 5.
I arrived home after a long and tiring journey from Hong Kong to discover that my wallet was missing from my handbag.
My last recollection of it was at Heathrow Airport earlier that morning, and I assumed that was where it had been lost. The following morning, it was found by Mr Turner in a luggage trolley at Manchester Airport.
He attempted, unsuccessfully, to have it returned to me by telephoning a bank whose details appeared on one of my credit cards.
He then called Merseytravel, the issuer of my concessionary bus pass, and reported his possession of my wallet. They notified me and provided me with Mr Turner’s telephone number.
He suggested we meet outside Chester, where he returned the wallet, with contents intact. He refused to accept any reward for returning my property, or expenses for his troubles.
Thank you, Mr Turner, for reminding us that there are good people in the world.
Veronica Morris Greasby, Wirral
