WE were out walking our dogs one Saturday afternoon at Griffiths Park in Rudheath, when our smallest dog, Millie, was spooked by a large group of bigger dogs and ran off.

This was not their fault, as she is incredibly nervous. We searched for an hour, but we didn’t find her.

Then some lovely people got involved and helped, one having seen her on the main road.

Finally we spotted her outside the Co-op, only to see her run into the road and under the wheels of a car, a heart stopping moment!

If it hadn’t been for the woman driver’s quick thinking and great driving skills, things could have been a lot worse.

We rushed Millie to Willows Veterinary Group and had her checked out and apart from a bump on the nose, a bitten tongue and shock she is going to be fine.

We didn’t get a chance to thank all those lovely people or to let them know she is ok.

Dog lovers really are the best. Thank you.
