Think date was wrong
3:33pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in Letters
Having just read historian Paul Hurley’s report on the old Ring o’ Bells in Weaverham, Guardian, October 2, I think a mistake has been about the date it was demolished.
Paul said it was around 1925-26. But after it was a pub it was made into a home for my grandparents to live, as at that time they were caretakers for the church.
The Sunday school was in a room upstairs in the house. Grandpa was a bell ringer, and Gran cleaned the church. I remember my mother taking me to visit when I was little. I was born in 1946. The whole place was very unsafe, the floorboards parted when you walked on them. My grandparents left there in the late 1940s, early 1950s to be rehoused in a house in Morris Drive, Weaverham.
