Four week wait for doc
12:43pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in Letters
ON reading ‘A view from the editor’ in last week’s edition, I have to agree 100 per cent with what was said.
My surgery is Willow Wood in Winsford, in Crook Lane and they have gone to an appointment only now. My last visit took six weeks after a visit to the infirmary for a X-ray.
When I ring up they usually give me an appointment in four weeks time and if I ask if there is anything earlier they say ‘no’.
On one occasion I asked the receptionist how could I be still sick in four weeks and she just told me to cancel the appointment if I was better.
When I said I could be dead in a month she replied ‘I don’t think so as you would be in hospital’.
I feel now that I will suffer pain rather that put out the poor doctors. I have thought about changing surgeries. Even when I ring up for my children – both aged under five – I have to say it’s an emergency to get a appointment that day or following day.
We only ever go when the children are very poorly.
This needs to be sorted out as you could turn up before 10am and wait your turn to be seen, now I have to have my calendar handy to work out how many weeks plus I ring up closer to time as its been so long I forget my time.
