Harsh measures needed

I READ with alarm the article relating to traffic calming on Weaver Street, Winsford. Mr Flood, regards the present humps on dingle street as ‘harsh’. They are supposed to be harsh to slow people down.

The mild speed cushions and tables on the road outside the council offices only reduce the speed of the cars slightly. On Weaver Street these would be ineffective. We need ‘harsh’ speed humps. At the moment any car going up or down the street speeds to get past all the parked cars. If any car is met in the opposite direction, if there is no empty parking space, someone has to reverse. Speed cushions and tables would not prevent this. We need the harsh speed humps that are already on Dingle Street.

This is the only thing that will stop the stupidity of some drivers. I am amazed that in the three years I have lived on Weaver Street there has not yet been an accident. MISS GRANT, Weaver Street, Winsford

Sorry forgot to mention about the poor sight of ambulances having to go over these ramps when there is somebody dying in the back.
