GIVEN the recent history of flooding in Northwich, I find it shocking that the new scheme to bring people back to the town centre should involve a large development directly adjacent to the River Weaver.
We all know that town centres are suffering from a lack of business, but surely this investment will incur more costs in the long term through insurance claims and damage repair? The coming years may see Northwich suffer more and more floods as climate change progresses, damaging property and putting possessions and livelihoods at risk. With this in mind, how can we expect homes and businesses next to the river channel to escape?
