I WOULD like to belatedly thank two gentlemen who called at my house on December 21, to return my dogs which had escaped from my back garden and were running free on London Road.

When I answered the door I was so shocked to see them I don’t think I thanked the men properly because I realised my back door was open.

The dogs had gone into the house and they could have been off again, so I hastily shut the front door to go and secure the back door.

There was a young woman with them who was obviously a driver who had nearly hit them. She was quite stressed by what had happened and I apologise for that. My dogs only ever go out on a lead, so many thanks to all concerned
