Northwich is changing, modernising.

Change is a good thing, even though it is sad to see the past ripped down along with our memories.

Some things don’t change like the army of volunteers we are privileged to have.

We watched Collect: Live on Saturday – it was wonderful.

The young people danced beautifully, and later in the Memorial Hall we said our farewell to a Northwich institution.

Well done everybody involved and Nick from the DAN office.

At half term my daughter was lucky enough to be involved in two events run by the local Brownies.

The women (and men) involved in organising these events are a true inspiration for our young girls.

They celebrated Thinking Day which asks the girls to think about all the other guides and brownies around the globe and to celebrate the lives of Baden-Powell and his wife Olave who founded the movement.

In austere times it does us good to have some Thinking Days too.

To be grateful for our lot even though we are suffering under the government’s cuts and social engineering.

Others in the world have it so much worse as I am sure Comic Relief will reveal.

The national landscape might change as policy truly begins to hurt people, with the poor vilified and portrayed as ‘Shameless’, when in fact they are just trying to survive like everyone else.

We might turn into that society where the state stamps on your face as envisioned by George Orwell.

But thankfully not yet, not yet.
