Winsford U3A

Winsford U3A held a welcome morning in Winsford library recently where members and prospective members enjoyed social interaction over tea and coffee. Many renewed their subs and several visitors attended wanting to know more about the interest groups.

A surge of interest has been shown in two new groups, psychology and practical gardening, which have got off to a very good start. A new computing group is due to start soon for members who own laptops or tablets.

Winsford library has Wi-fi which makes it easier to learn on one's own portable computer. All such learning is possible because the ethos of U3A is self help, where members offer their skills and experiences by forming a wide variety of activity groups for the retired or semi-retired at very low cost.

Forthcoming events include: a visit to see Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Lyceum theatre, Crewe; a visit to Lincoln to see the cathedral and Magna Carta and an outing Ormskirk market and Southport in June.

The next meeting is Friday, March 27 in Winsford library. Further information is available from the library or the Winsford U3A website.
