Vics 2 Farsley Celtic 1

DESPITE dominating play for almost the entire game, Vics made hard work of securing their first win of the season.

Indeed they found themselves trailing to a 38th minute goal from David Syers, who fired home a left-wing cross from a rare Celtic raid that had left the home defence at sixes and sevens.

Andy Preece introduced Lee Elam for Horrocks immediately after the break in a bid to improve delivery into the box.

But it took an hour for Vics to deliver effective pressure.

Matt Bailey had a header cleared from the goal line by Dominic Krief before Krief blotted his copybook by losing possession to Wayne Riley and he cruised into the box to score with a precision shot into the left hand corner.

Three minutes later and a clever chip across goal from Elam set up Michael Connor to score on the volley.

Within a further two minutes Simon Grand was held by a defender in the box and Jonny Allan smacked the spot kick against the bar.

Just as dramatically as that purple patch had arrived it disappeared and with both sides mustering no more than a half chance each the game progressed to what had now become an almost inevitable conclusion.
