THE new owners of Vics’ now former ground admit they are no nearer to deciding what to do with it.

Thor Specialities (UK) Ltd said more than a month ago that it did not want to knock down the Victoria Stadium, preferring instead to look for a long-term home for the floodlights and other assets.

But the chemicals manufacturer has yet to find one.

“We have no progress to report,” said managing director David Hewitt.

Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust has asked the firm, based on the same street as the stadium in Wincham, to donate what it can to help fans build a new ground elsewhere in the town.

The Guardian understands that negotiations are ongoing between the two groups.

In a statement last month, Thor said it would discuss its options with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC), Sport England and Cheshire FA.

“We agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest for us to work together to try and find a solution that is for the benefit of Northwich,” it read.

“We have received offers of interest from other third parties regarding the stadium’s assets and, while we have acknowledged it, no formal discussions have taken place.”

Thor has though ruled out any further talks with the club.
