HOMELESS Northwich Victoria will play Saturday’s FA Trophy third round tie against higher-ranked Hampton & Richmond Borough on the pitch of Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield Town.

The Silkmen agreed to host the match before an FA deadline to find a venue passed yesterday, Tuesday.

Vics, on their best run in the competition since 2007, will face Blue Square Bet South Boro following their replay success against East Thurrock last night.

Kick off on Saturday is 3pm.

Home game at Macclesfield, I ask, "Is it worth it"? Why not just call it a day and become Wittoners, we still have a home.
WHS.

My neighbour lives about 10 yards away.
Surely 'Cheshire neighbours' is pushing incredulity a tad far don't you think?

I'd rather watch a pigeon race before witton and I'm sure many hundreds of Vics fans feel the same. As for 'we still have a home' - what a small minded comment that is - but expected!

Dear Vics fan. Please allow for a little rib-tickling from Witton fans. You must have realised the 'story' of the Vics over the past few seasons has been a source of endless amusement to all Wittoners. How could it ever be otherwise. Now Mr Rushe has led you out of the Promised Land and into the wilderness perhaps the reality of what has happened might bring some degree of sanity to professional football in mid-Cheshire. Don't think Vics plight is unique. See Kettering and Darlington as examples of clubs who were promised 'jam tomorrow.'

I'm sure the DF planning issues/delays also caused great amusement to wittoners, laughing all the way to the bank!! Mr Rushe / Connett would have come nowhere near NVFC had the planners done their job properly and very likely the VS would have been completed and our club could have progressed within it's means.
I still wonder to this day what was behind the delays, maybe wittoners could shed some light on it.

Trying to build a 3 to 4 million pound stadium with less than 2 million quid will result in delays I guess.

Incorrect,VS cost nowhere near that much to build taking into account the grants contributed and the DBS already owned by Vics. £500 k would have completed the job to the satisfaction of the league, the last 12 months at witton killed us - thanks to ridiculous planning decisions that were condemned by the appeal committee. Something still smells about the whole mess we're in.

Playing the last 12 months at Witton killed you? what a complete joke!!
Paying £750 a game for what 25 games killed you? Playing at Witton saved you and the fact that people like you still BLAME Witton means it will never hapen again. Perhaps the FACT that you were over a million pound in debt at the Drill Field might have killed you, or the FACT you have continually payed out wages you can't afford may have killed you, maybe the FACT the local buisness' of the Town wanted money owed to them killed you but please stop blaming everyone else.

Not blaming witton, the planning committee cost us dearly so unless they're linked to witton then witton had no influence. £750 per game maybe in rent but what about all the other income streams we lost out on whilst playing there.
We planned to leave witton 2 years after playing there, at that time we were still in the Conference national and we would therefore have started at the VS with decent crowds and good away support. Instead we were needlessly stuck at witton for the 3rd season, half built ground,no money left, fans deserting us in numbers, team at the bottom of the league. Debt at DF was around 500k if i remember correctly.
I have said previously that Vics like many other clubs have made some very poor financial decisions over the years, however the Conference ground criteria (later reduced) and the planning committee decision on the DF were crucial matters that had a massive impact on our stadium move. If only the move had gone as smoothly as wittons back in 1991!
