NO amount of analysis will answer how Northwich Victoria lost this match.
Andy Preece’s men dominated from start to finish but their profligacy in front of goal, plus courageous Corby defending, thwarted their victory bid.
Jonny Allan’s stoppage time free kick clattered the crossbar in stoppage time, capturing in one moment the story of the afternoon.
The hosts had hit the front shortly before that, sub Mark Stallard applying the finishing touch to a sweeping move that involved Steve Towers and Joe Francis.
Vics’ chances were countless, Paul Mayo twice clearing off the line from Simon Grand while Michael Connor blazed wildly off target with the goal at his mercy after David Deeney had smuggled Mat Bailey’s header off the line.
Allan drilled narrowly wide of the far upright after creating space for a shot, but time after time the visitors failed to turn their dominance into a deserved goal.
Full report, plus reaction, to follow.
