NORTHWICH Victoria supporter Paul Ashley will walk from one end of Wales to the other over the next fortnight to raise money for sick children.

The football fan hopes to collect more than £3,000 if he completes a challenge that starts at Conwy this Friday and finishes at Barry Island.

He has walked the 200-miles distance in training over the past couple of months.

“I’ve been out in all weather,” he said.

“It’s gone well, but the test now is to fit all of that into a 10-days period. That’s going to be really tough.

“Walking seems easy because it’s something we all do every day, but to go 20 miles each day without a break is going to be a huge achievement.”

He supports Hope House Children’s Hospices, which needs more than £4million each year to support families with terminally ill children.

The charity offers respite care at hospices in Cheshire and north Wales.

“Paul is very enthusiastic, and it’s a brilliant challenge for him to do,” said Hope House fundraiser Hannah Penney.

The pair are former colleagues at Moss Farm outdoor sports complex, where Ashley is manager for operators Brio Leisure.

Mr Ashley says support from firms in the town has proved invaluable during his preparation.

He thanks Buccaneer Promotions, Castle Tiles, Cheshire Cricket Board, Kirkdale Physiotherapy, Moss Farm Sevens Football League, Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust, Pure Tonic Massage, Radio Active Communications, Spinney Motorhomes, Stretch Massage and fellow Northwich fan Colin Buckley.

“The help I have had has been fantastic,” added Mr Ashley.
