DINO Maamria hopes to use all his new recruits in tonight’s clash with Clitheroe.
The Vics boss plans to give every player 45 minutes at Shawbridge in a game arranged as part of Joel Byrom’s transfer to the Blue Square Premier club in January.
“I’m hoping everybody will get at least a half,” he said.
“The main aim of the game is to give everybody a chance to get out there and get some minutes in their legs.“It’s also important we stay injury free.”
The only question mark is over Scott Tynan, who trained apart from his teammates for part of last week after suffering blisters on his feet.
He rejoined the group on Friday.
Maamria also intends to use the game to cast his eye over a handful of trialists who have spent the past seven days training at Moss Farm.
However he said tonight’s match, plus Saturday’s trip to Chorley, would not make or break a deal for any of them.
“I’m fairly relaxed about it,” he said.
“In an ideal world I’d like to sign three or four players but the financial situation we find ourselves in means that isn’t going to happen.
“It’s the same for every club at the moment and I think you will find a lot of clubs operating with smaller squads.
“Based on that I might sign one or two before the start of the season but I’m in no hurry at the moment.”
Despite switching to Vics for a four-figure sum at the turn of the year midfielder Byrom still finished as the UniBond Division One North club’s top scorer.
His impact at Vics was also impressive, scoring five times in 23 appearances as he established himself as the team’s creative hub from the centre of the pitch.
Clitheroe’s clash with Vics kicks off at 7.30pm.
Admission is £5 for adults, £2 concessions.
