NORTHWICH Victoria have clinched a date with Boreham Wood in the FA Cup first round after coming from behind to beat Chorley in a replay.

It is the third successive stage in this season’s edition Vics have eliminated higher-ranked opposition.

The Magpies, from Vanarama National League North, led at the break thanks to Andy Bond’s goal direct from a free kick.

However their guests levelled early in the second period when Michael Roddy converted a penalty after Chorley skipper Andrew Teague tripped Brian Summerskill.

And substitute Abou Sanogo completed Vics’ comeback with 11 minutes left when he met Ryan Astles cross with a powerful header.

The teams had played out a goalless stalemate in Northwich on Friday night.

Vics, who most recently reached the first round in 2009 when they defeated Charlton Athletic in a match broadcast live on terrestrial television, will host Boreham Wood at Wincham Park on Saturday week, November 7.

The Hertfordshire-based club, who sent out AFC Hornchurch at the weekend, currently occupy 20th place in non-league’s top flight.

Last night’s 2-1 victory increases to £26,425 the prize money banked by Northwich as a reward for winning five ties.

Earlier this month they were charged by the FA with fielding an ineligible player, goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe, in ties against AFC Blackpool and Hyde United.

However an appeal panel decided against throwing them out of the competition after listening to an explanation for the rule-break from the club during a private hearing.

Instead they were ordered to play again a second qualifying round clash with Hyde, while AFC Blackpool received £3,000 in prize money as compensation.
