FANS behind plans for a new team to represent Northwich want as many people as possible to help name it.

Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust, whose members voted last week to start its own version of Vics from next season, hosts a forum tomorrow, Thursday, when the title will be debated.

“We want all Vics followers to feel a part of what we’re doing,” said trust chairman Paul Stockton.

“The name of our new club is key to what we’re trying to create, so we’re inviting all fans – not just trust members – to have their say.”

The trust board has presented four names to pick from.

Stockton confirmed too that the club’s colours will be green and white, while its nickname is sure to be Vics.

He added: “Nobody can rob us of our heritage. The trust’s aim is to create a club that retains the proud tradition and history of the club we love, but to make it radically different in the way it works with the people of Northwich, its businesses and other partners.”

The trust intends to reveal details of two major fundraising initiatives too at Lostock Social Club tomorrow, Thursday, from 7.30pm.

Last Thursday, only four of 145 members who voted at a Special General Meeting said they were in favour of starting a new club in competition with the existing one.

On the pitch, Vics lost for a fifth time in their past six Evo-Stik NPL Division One South matches in a 3-1 reverse at Halesowen on Saturday.

Owner Jim Rushe hopes to name a new manager this week, but he will not be able to count on top scorer Lee Dodgson who has returned to former club Lancaster City.

Strike partner Chris Luby has left too, switching to New Mills.
