Northwich gyratory is here to stay
Some people are never satisfied! and all you grumpy people stop bloody moaning, who cares if you dont like it, do you think people are going to remember your view about this when your dead and gone and the system is still here? NO! just get on with your lives. just like the extra housing and the HS2! Do you remember the people who probably protested and voted No to the houses being built YOU are currently living in? no? theres a surprise.

Sorry to have to contradict you, Nicksey, but I don't find any of your points to be valid.
It's true that drivers in the inner lane have to move across at some point, just as we all have to do on any roundabout anywhere in the country and the skills required are no different. Of course, some people are uncomfortable with roundabouts in general and so will never enjoy the gyratory, but with time, perhaps they will improve their technique and get through quicker (and hold up the rest of us less). When that happens I'm sure that the system will be even more effective.
You point out that traffic flow is probably no worse than before, but then you claim that the route is 'artificially increasing congestion'. Sounds like a real contradiction there.
Concerning the extra distance travelled, the increase varies from zero to insignificant and is off-set by the removal of a mini roundabout, traffic lights on the Seafarer straight-through route and less phases on other lights. Swings and roundabouts? (no pun intended)
I think that the reduction in waiting may well offset the slight extra distance which is needed for some routes. In any event, the fuel now used and pollution caused can hardly rival the results of the appalling queue on Winnington Lane, which is no longer a problem.
Monday afternoon, app 4.40, a bad time of day for traffic, I passed through from Lostock to Winnington in a very decent time and have still never found a congestion problem on any of the routes which has not been improved.

Roadworks hit Northwich town centre
Firstly, everyone who wants to access either London Road or Castle will just do what I did yesterday - cut across the dual carrigeway and head down Percy Street.
Secondly, is anything going to be done to stop those who want to turn right onto London Road/Dane Street blocking those of us who live on Castle from going straight on at the lights, unable to get past because cars/buses attempting to turn right towards Watling Street are blocking the juction?
The only traffic problem I have EVER encountered in Northwich is people being in the wrong lane heading out of town onto Manchester road at the Leicester St roundabout. Perhaps the money being spent on this diabolical one way system would be better spent putting up some larger signs indicating that "for the third exit you need to be in the outside lane, NOT the inside one!"

Smith unhappy about 'nasty' and 'unnecessary' tackle
1.13pm Tuesday 26th July 2011
My rugby career was ended at 16 while a member of a scholarship moving up to U18's by a 'canonball' tackle. Now while the tackle is not yet illegal and sometimes probably not purposeful it is very dangerous and should be banned immediately. As a result I had a snapped patella tendon and on occasion have had to go through various physio programmes even 6 years on. Tackle was legal however it is dangerous and needs banishing from the game.
