A man has died after being assaulted and then run over by a car outside a pub, police said.
The 33-year-old died in hospital from head injuries he suffered in the incident outside the Bayhorse pub in Dinnington, near Newcastle upon Tyne, on Monday night.
Two men, aged 23 and 20, have been arrested by police on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
Northumbria Police said officers were called to reports of a disturbance outside the village pub at 10.43pm.
The victim was taken to Newcastle General Hospital, where he later died.
A force spokesman said: "Inquiries are at an early stage. However, it is believed the victim had been assaulted before being struck by a car."
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Potts, who is leading the investigation, said: "Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed or has information on this incident to come forward as they may be able to assist with our investigation."
