WITTON boss Brian Pritchard will warn his players to have no regrets at full time following tomorrow’s Division One North play-offs semi final against Farsley.

The Albion boss was on the pitch when teams picked by Jim Vince missed out on promotion at the same stage back in 2007 and again the following season.

He wants his current crop to avoid a repeat.

“I’ll tell them not to wish after the game they had done something that they didn’t,” he said on Monday.

“We’ve got to go for it; I’d say the same to any player in a similar situation.”

Albion arrive at the play-offs unbeaten in 15 Evo-Stik Northern Premier League encounters, a sequence that started back in February.

However they failed to beat Farsley in the teams’ two meetings, including a 1-1 draw at the Help for Heroes Stadium.

Pritchard said: “Those matches mean nothing now.

“We’re about to play a cup tie, when luck will play a part.

“Farsley are a good team, but then they know we are.

“I’ve a massive respect for what they have achieved in their first season back playing at this level, they have reached the play-offs on merit for their performances on the pitch.

“We won’t be afraid of them though, just like we haven’t been scared of anybody this season.”

Witton closed the campaign with a 4-1 win against Salford at the weekend, a contest in which assistant manager Mike Moseley came off the bench to score a hat-trick.

Matthew Woolley was on target too, notching Albion’s 100th – and arguably their best – goal of the season.

Pritchard said: “There was a bit of a carnival atmosphere, which made for a good occasion.

“Mike was fantastic, rolling back the years with his goals.

“He’s not played much this season, but there’s never been a doubt about his quality. I might have to show him the red card for the play-offs though!”

Striker Liam Newman (hamstring) is definitely out of tomorrow’s match while others rested at the weekend, when Paul Booth made his 100th appearance for the club, are expected to return.
