Witton batter poor Brig
WITTON closed to five points the gap to top spot in Evo-Stik NPL Division One North following their biggest win of the season so far.
Albion put six goals past poor Bamber Bridge, each authored by a different scorer, to extend an unbeaten run on the road to eight league matches.
Leading marksman Alex Titchiner broke the deadlock.
Skipper Anthony Sheehan saw his spot kick saved after Josh Hancock was felled, the wide man doubled the visitors’ tally from Ashley Stott’s assist before the break.
Anthony Gardner converted from close range to make it 3-0 at the start of the second half, then Chris Gahgan picked a defender’s pocket to score Witton’s next goal.
Brian Pritchard’s men suffered more penalty woe when Ben Harrison’s free hit was saved by Brig goalkeeper Lee Dovey, but the respite was brief before Stott lobbed in Albion’s fifth goal.
Substitute Liam Newman completed the rout with five minutes left.
