ANTHONY Sheehan scored the only goal to help Witton climb to third in the table after beating Wakefield on Saturday.
The midfielder broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left to end the Bears’ resistance, ensuring a third successive win in Division One North for Brian Pritchard’s men in the process.
They trail leaders AFC Fylde by five points.
Wakefield, without a win in the league since August and on a seven-matches losing sequence, held on until midway through the second half before succumbing to Sheehan’s ninth goal of the term.
They remain in the relegation zone as a result.
Albion, embarking on a sequence of four games against teams in the standings’ bottom five, head next to improving Ossett Albion.
Pick up Wednesday’s Guardian for an interview with Albion’s match-winner Anthony Sheehan, plus reaction from manager Brian Pritchard.
