WITTON feel better about tomorrow’s match against Mossley after thrashing Buxton at home in midweek.
Manager Brian Pritchard told the Guardian that Albion’s Doodson Sport Cup success against the Bucks had lifted spirits after back-to-back defeats in front of their own fans.
“It was a boost,” he said.
“The lads played with freedom, which I hope they can repeat on Saturday.”
Albion’s points haul on the road is bigger following last weekend’s 3-1 success at Prescot Cables, keeping them fifth in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North table.
But with three of the current top five teams still to visit Northwich this term, Pritchard knows how important it is to pick up points at home.
“It’s time to be mentally strong,” he added.
“The players need to put themselves in the right frame of mind and the rest will look after itself.”
Mossley arrive in town with a new manager after Steve Halford replaced Gareth McClelland, who resigned after last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat against promotion-hopefuls Farsley.
It leaves the Lilywhites without a win in their past six league encounters.
“It will be intriguing,” added Pritchard.
“Steve and [assistant] Peter [Band] know the group well as they’ve played alongside them already, so that should make the transition easier for everybody.”
