Match pointers
WITTON need to win a league encounter in front of their own fans for the first time since November when strugglers Mossley visit this weekend.

Brian Pritchard’s men have suffered back-to-back defeats at the Help for Heroes Stadium – against Cammell Laird and Trafford – while maintaining their fine form on the road.

However a thumping home win against Buxton in the Doodson Sport Cup in midweek will have raised spirits.

A 3-1 success at Prescot Cables last weekend means Albion have picked up more points away from home this term, a record the manager is desperate to improve.

He has doubts over midfield pair Carl Clampitt (calf) and Oliver James (match fitness), but Anthony Gardner has recovered from an illness that kept him out of a 4-1 victory against the Bucks.

Chris Gahgan, cup tied for that clash, returns too.

Visitors Mossley will hope new manager Steve Halford can arrest a slide that has seen them fail to win any of their past six Division One North encounters – a sequence stretching back to November.

Only Wakefield have a worse run of form.

Mossley have scored more goals than any other team in the table’s bottom half to date – 41 – and the return of attacker Harry Noon this week adds to their goals threat.

Adam Jones (Wakefield) and James Stansfield (Harrogate Railway Athletic) are fresh faces too.
