Curzon Ashton end wait for a win while closest rivals AFC Fylde celebrate sixth straight win

PACESETTERS Curzon Ashton ended a five-matches sequence without a success in a 3-0 win at Wakefield on Saturday, writes Tom Snee.

Goals from Chris McDonagh, Matthew Purcell and Sam Walker helped John Flanagan’s men to maximum points at the expense of the Bears, who have lost each of their past six league encounters.

AFC Fylde recorded a sixth successive victory, this time at Radcliffe Borough, to keep up their pursuit of the leaders, while third-placed Farsley bounced back from a slip-up on Monday to beat Mossley.

Skelmersdale United supporters must wonder what has happened to their team in recent weeks, a four-goals thrashing at Trafford - for whom Joe Shaw hit a hat-trick – leaving them with a single win from their past ten games.

Witton Albion forgot their home humbling earlier in the week to win comfortably at 10-man Prescot Cables , while in-form Garforth Town hit Cammell Laird for six.

Lancaster City, without a win in their previous six attempts, edged out Woodley Sports in their head-to-head at the Giant Axe.

At the other end of the table, improving Ossett Albion are unbeaten in their past half dozen outings after beating Clitheroe.

Harrogate Railway Athletic put a stop to Salford City’s fine sequence of results too.

In the remaining games, Bamber Bridge drew with Ossett Town while Warrington Town played out a stalemate with Durham City.
