Match pointers

WITTON Albion manager Brian Pritchard will expect a reaction from his team following a home humbling against Trafford on Monday.

They can be confident of success at Valerie Park though, a place from which they have returned home victorious on each of their previous three visits.

The visitors are seeking consistency after picking up only 10 points from their past eight Division One North encounters – contrast that with 18 from the eight previous.

Pritchard is boosted by the return of goalkeeper Matt Cooper and midfield anchor Anthony Sheehan after serving one-match bans, while Liam Newman is closer to a recall after a cameo as a substitute against Trafford.

Oliver James hopes to win his battle against an ankle injury to feature, while Jamie Harrison could feature in the 16 after a spell out of action.

Hosts Prescot have been Witton on their own pitch only once from their past six attempts, but are buoyed by a Boxing Day success against Skelmersdalein their previous outing.

Cables have though the ignominious honour of failing to keep a single clean sheet to date in the league this term.

Top scorers James Morris and Liam Pearson are recent departures, along with manager Dave Ridler, to leave the Merseysiders facing a battle to avoid relegation.
