THE season’s second round of matches yielded more than 40 goals – including six each for two teams – on a night when defences crumbled.
Chorley lead the way after hitting the net half a dozen times for the second time in little more than 48 hours, this time at the expense of Curzon Ashton Jack Dorney helped himself to four in a 6-2 win.
Harrogate Railway Athletic copied that feat at Garforth Town, Kevin Ryan and Paul Stansfield both bagging braces.
Skelmersdale United made it six points from six on offer after thrashing poor Radcliffe Borough, while Clitheroe put five goals without reply past Mossley.
Honours were even between promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde, who pick up their first point of the term, and Witton Albion.
Brian Pritchard’s late header restored parity for the visitors.
Chester FC made their bow in front of a four-figures crowd at Cantilever Park, where hosts Warrington Town rescued a point when Gavin Salmon cancelled out Rob Hopley’s early opener.
Elsewhere there were wins for Salford City, Trafford, Wakefield and Woodley Sports.
