WITTON will complete their pre-season programme with a home date against League Two newcomers Stockport County.

Paul Simpson’s men, who put five goals without reply past Albion’s neighbours Northwich Victoria on Tuesday, are in town on Wednesday, August 11, kick off is 7.45pm.

The extra game makes up for the postponement of Witton’s encounter with Rhyl in midweek because their Wincham Park pitch was under water.

"Our pre-season has been one designed to test the players ahead of what will be an equally testing league programme and this game will certainly do that,” said manager Paul Ogden.

County have already fixed a friendly in Wincham for next Monday, July 26, when they take on Scottish Premier League outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Caley are currently managed by former England international defender Terry Butcher.

Witton chairman Mark Harris said: “Our discussions with Stockport were concluded quickly and we are delighted to host the game.

“Not only that, but with expected attendance of more than 500 people it will give us the opportunity to demonstrate that we are capable of doing so.”

Kick off on Monday is 7.45pm.
