WITTON will continue their push for the play-offs without top scorer Steve Foster after he returned to former club Salford City.

The 21-goals front man was on target for the Ammies in their 4-3 reverse at Bamber Bridge today, Saturday, after Albion boss Gary Finley agreed to cancel his registration.

He picked on-loan forward Luke Powell as partner to Carl Lamb in attack for the trip to Mickleovers Sports.

Foster, 28, scored the goals that helped Salford City avoid relegation back to the Vodkat North West Counties League last season.

He found the net 16 times in 14 appearances after forging a formidable partnership with Stuart Rudd, another to have left Witton this term.

But in recent weeks he has found it tough to break back into the team after a combination of injury and suspension, often finding himself playing out of position.

His last league goal for Albion was in a 6-0 win against Goole AFC on February 6.

He is the second player in as many days to ask to leave Wincham Park after Ryan Broadhead revealed he wished to move back to neighbours Northwich Victoria.

The former Middlewich Town midfielder played what is likely to be his last match for Albion in their 2-1 reverse at Mickleover.
