CHILDREN in Africa could be sporting Albion colours thanks to fans of the Northwich club.

Witton’s striped shirts will be spotted in some of the most unlikely places after the UniBond League Division One South outfit agreed to continue supporting a charity that sends old kits to kids who love football in the poorest parts of the world.

A collection takes place at tomorrow’s top-of-the-table clash with league leaders Sheffield FC.

“It’s time for Wittoners to clear out their cupboards,” said Albion chairman Mark Harris.

“They just need to bring any unwanted old shirts, shorts or socks to Saturday’s game and we’ll do the rest.”

Albion were one of the first UniBond League clubs to sign up to support KitAid in 2006.

The charity, which counts on the support of former England manager Graham Taylor as patron, has been donating strips to children and adults in Africa, India and other parts of the developing world since the turn of the century.

Fans can drop off their donations at Wincham Park’s club shop before the Sheffield game, which kicks off at 3pm.

Alternatively kits can be sent to the following address: KitAid, c/o Veolia Water Central Limited, Tambin Way, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9EZ.
