Why should I watch..?

Because this is one of the games of the day in the Northern Premier League.

Warrington, thwarted by the weather from playing Whitby on Saturday, were given a boost when title-favourites Altrincham came a cropper at Rushall.

Yellows remain six points adrift of the Robins at the Premier Division’s summit, although they have a game in hand on their rivals.

They must improve though after collecting a single point from their past two matches; a 1-1 draw at home to Workington in midweek followed a 2-0 reverse at Stalybridge Celtic.

Witton received a timely boost when they brushed aside Hednesford, putting behind them successive defeats.

Their play-offs hopes remain intact as a result, and they start tomorrow’s game a point adrift of fifth-placed Farsley Celtic.

What they’ve said

“We’re near to the top of the table and that tells you that we’re there to be shot at.

“Opponents want to beat us, and that’s the way it should be.

“Easter is a massive test, but that applies to everybody and we have to make sure that we’re as ready as we can be.”

Paul Carden, Warrington Town manager

“We got everything we had been looking for against Hednesford; three points, which is most important, a clean-sheet and three goals.

“That was important for us going into what is a big game against Warrington.”

Carl Macauley, Witton Albion manager

Numbers game

Only Altrincham, the Premier Division leaders, have collected more points in front of their own supporters this season than Warrington

Warrington team news

Defender Jay McEveley, who has joined on loan from Tranmere Rovers, could feature for the first time.

Yellow will check on midfielder Sean Williams (hamstring) while front man Jamie McDonald, who missed a midweek draw with Workington through illness, should be fit to take part.

Witton team news

Prince Haywood is available again after work commitments prevented him from playing against Hednesford on Saturday.

Carl Macauley must decide whether to recall full-back Matty Devine after he started from the bench against the Pitmen.

The absence of wing man Owen Dale (groin) extended to four matches yesterday.

Man to keep an eye on

Rob Hopley

The striker increased his goal tally for the campaign to 18 with a brace during a 3-0 win against Hednesford yesterday.

He also finished smartly to put Witton ahead when Halesowen visited Wincham Park in midweek, and is hitting from at precisely the right moment.

He has stepped up as captain too following Anthony Brown’s departure to City of Liverpool.

Remember when…

Witton took on Warrington on Easter Monday six years ago?

Brian Pritchard’s promotion play-offs hopefuls ended Yellows’ slim hopes of a top-five finish when they recorded an emphatic 5-0 win.

Ashley Stott’s hat-trick was a highlight for the home team at Wincham Park, and he put Albion ahead before Warrington midfielder Dale Wright was dismissed for elbowing Matt Cross.

Stott doubled his side’s lead before the break, and Chris Gahgan – a former favourite at Cantilever Park – added to it early in the second-half.

Danny Andrews netted a fourth before Stott scored later to add gloss.
