WITTON Albion’s rivals for the club’s first season back in the Northern Premier League’s top-flight since 2015 have been revealed.

The Football Association’s Leagues Committee confirmed a provisional line-up for the first four levels of the National League System in an announcement on Sunday.

Its members had met last week.

Carl Macauley’s men, who secured a return via the play-offs last month, are part of a 24-strong Premier Division along with Division One South champions Shaw Lane.

Lancaster City, who took top spot in Division One North, and Farsley Celtic are the other promoted teams.

They replace relegated Corby Town, Frickley Athletic, Ilkeston and Skelmersdale.

Two teams, Altrincham and Stalybridge Celtic, drop down from National League North to fill vacancies left by north east duo Blyth Spartans and Spennymoor Town.

The constitution will ratified during the league’s annual meeting in Blackpool next month.

Meanwhile the competition’s management committee has scheduled an opening round of matches for Saturday, August 12.

Provisionally, there will be three games during the Christmas holidays; on Boxing Day, Saturday, December 30 and New Year’s Day.

Next term concludes on the final weekend in April, with promotion play-offs in the diary for the first week of May.
