WITTON will attempt to reach the Cheshire FA Senior Cup last four for the first time in four years when they host higher-ranked Warrington tonight.

Albion are on their best run in the competition since 2013 after eliminating Sandbach United, following extra time and a penalty shoot-out, and then Barnton in the past two rounds.

Carl Macauley’s men are also protecting an unbeaten record this season in front of their own supporters after winning 14 of their 18 games at Wincham Park to date.

His players have had seven days without a fixture following the postponement of Saturday’s trip to Stocksbridge, but the Witton boss has rotated his squad previously for county cup games.

Goalkeeper Danny Roberts is almost ready to return after missing the past three games through injury, although new recruit Ryan Crump is on stand-by.

Full-back Matty Devine has recovered from an ankle injury, but may not be risked with a double-header against Lincoln United and then title-rivals Shaw Lane to come in the next week.

Instead, the game is likely to provide playing time for the likes of Ryan Hickman, Jamie Hinchliffe, Karl Noon, Tolani Omotola, Danny Reynolds and James Sloane.

Yellows arrive in Northwich after losing their past two Northern Premier League games, against Blyth Spartans last Tuesday and then Workington over the weekend.

They sit 13th in the Premier Division.

Tonight’s tie will be played to a conclusion, with extra time and penalties if required.

Normal admission prices apply.

Kick off is at 7.45pm.
