ANOTHER day, another abandoned match.

However Albion boss Carl Macauley, while frustrated his side had another match halted early after they established a lead, said referee Les Sinclair had made the right decision.

The match official cut short proceedings after 70 minutes, by which time dense fog enveloped Wincham Park in the same way it had last month during an FA Trophy clash with Boston.

“It’s annoying, but it’s hard to argue when the conditions change like they did,” said Witton’s boss.

“Our goalkeeper Danny Roberts could see to the other end of the field, but a linesman was struggling to follow what was happening.

“That’s what persuaded the referee.”

The hosts had to be patient against opponents that have already beaten them this term.

Indeed, they were fortunate not to trail at the interval after Jordan Wilson’s goal-bound attempt hit the net as Sinclair blew his whistle for half-time.

Albion, seeking to put behind them the disappointment of a controversial FA Trophy exit at the hands of higher-ranked Chester in midweek, took the lead on 55 minutes when Brad Bauress converted from close range.

However the Millers continued to defend stubbornly for the remainder.

Macauley named new recruit Jamie Hinchliffe in his starting line-up following the teenage attacker’s switch from tenants Northwich Victoria on Friday.

He has scored eight goals for Vics this season.

He said: “We’ve watched him a few times, and he’s on that’s caught our eye.

“We’ve been wanting to add to our options in that part of the field, and we’re confident do well here.”
